Phoenix Shih Tzu
Shih Tzu Color Information (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)
First, Shih Tzu have 3 main pigment colors: Black, Liver (brown, sometimes called chocolate) and Blue. The reason this is important is because a liver or blue dog will never have black pigment. (Pigment is the color of their pads of their feet and nose)

Second, within the 3 pigment types, coat colors can vary a lot.

Third, While coat color can change while a puppy grows, pigment will never change.

Shih Tzu are either considered SOLID or PARTY (meaning more than one color). Solid color puppies can have a splash of a different color on their chest, or forehead or other places, but they are mostly one solid color.

Here are some examples of Shih Tzu colors:

Solid Black Coat,  Black Pigment
Solid Gold Brindle Coat, Black Pigment

Solid Liver Coat, Liver Pigment
