We are the Buescher Family and our love for the Shih Tzu breed started when we brought home our Skittles. Our son, Shaun, had been seriously injured on the ski slopes in Park City, Utah while we were on a family vacation in January 2005. It was a traumatic experience for our boy, but awful for our entire family watching our son go through the pain of the injury, the surgery and long recovery. It is one of the worst things a family can go through. We knew ahead of time Shaun would need another surgery to remove all the hardware that was used in the first surgery to fix his leg, and we all dreaded the upcoming date on our calendar. My husband and I wanted to do something special for Shaun to help keep him happy during another lengthy recovery. I had always been very allergic to dogs but I had heard that the Shih Tzu breed was hypo allergenic. I visited my good friend Jeri’s home (who is a Shih Tzu breeder out here in Arizona) and I was so happy to find that I did not have any allergic reaction! We immediately put a deposit down on the cutest little puppy we ever saw.... our “Skittles”.
It was a wonderful thing for Shaun having a puppy to look forward to after the surgery, and it was the best thing we ever did for our family. Skittles never left Shaun’s side while he was stuck in bed for weeks after the surgery. My husband and I never expected how attached we, ourselves, would become to Skittles. We had no idea how she would become such an important part of our family. Skittles is our baby and she is spoiled rotten. She goes with us on our family vacations and accompanies me in the car every morning and afternoon when we drop Shaun off and pick him up from school.

We realized soon after we wanted to adopt another Shih Tzu, perhaps even more. Norm and I have learned so much about the Shih Tzu breed. We decided to dedicate our time to help other families who are looking for their “Skittles”. Shih Tzu are the most loving animals, they seem to sense their owners emotions and are a devoted companion. If we didn’t believe deeply how this breed can enhance a family’s life, we would never have considered breeding.
We take time to ensure that each of our puppies go to a loving home where they will be pampered the rest of their lives. Seeing the joy that these puppies bring children and families means so much to us!
